Hillary Clinton meets Novica artist
July 23, New Delhi. The U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, today paid a visit to the Kashmiri showroom of Novica artist Nazir Wani.
Mr. Wani said, "Wow! What a blessing! The first thing I told Ms. Clinton was, first of all let me thank the almighty for giving me this opportunity. She was so impressed by the works that she had to pick up a magnifying glass to see the intricacy of work executed in one of the shawls. She was especially impressed by the new and innovative designs using the traditional techniques. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the dedicated artisans who work with me. Without their support, I am nobody and this would not have been possible."
"We are elated that Secretary of State Clinton took the time to view these wonderful crafts from Kashmir during her visit to India," said Roberto Milk, co-founder and CEO of Novica. "Many of these traditional techniques are disappearing, so the attention granted by an international dignitary can help play a role in preserving and reviving these important crafts."
