A Blissful Place to Stay

by Jenny Chua

If you’re planning a trip to India but wish to stay away from the hustle and bustle of New Delhi, a major stop for all flights, there is a beautiful refuge waiting in the capital’s outskirts just 50 minutes from the airport.

Previously a private villa, a sense of calm unfurls as you open quaint wooden doors into a labyrinth of beautiful spaces decorated with exquisite arts from ancient Asia. A daybed, sprawling chaises and shaggy woolen rugs invite blissful relaxation. Just a touch of modernity is brought in with plasma TVs.

In the living areas, grand brass fireplaces stand off on corners to warm you during the chilly winter months of November to January. For the rest of the summer months, a sweeping glass pane lets you drink in the cooling view of a free form pool lorded by soaring columns. Bright fuchsia and tangerine bougainvillea lushly dip over a cushioned lounge lining a wooden balcony. The gardens of this 3.5 acre oasis is thoughtfully sprinkled with lovely iron tables and chairs for a space of your own.

Each of the 6 rooms offered is a special surprise to the senses. The beds are fairytale dreams brought to reality. The majestic master suite with its intricately carved canopy bed has a walk in closet and a plunge Jacuzzi. Historic decoration brings warmth and individuality to the rest of the rooms opening up to a patio for splendid view of tranquil green. The garden suite takes special notice with an expansive view of a fountain garden, a cozy den and a glass shower looking into a private rock garden. In the basement, there is a steam and dry sauna, a bar and game room with a billiards table.

A full staff at your service will whip up meals according to your imagination. Not many people know about this secret hideaway, so you may very well have the villa all to yourself.
