Wonderful LoveWood Wall Mask
Darko's inspiration comes naturally....
Born on April 4, 1978 in the eastern Region of Ghana, Eric Darko graduated from the secondary technical school in 1999. During school vacations, he frequently visited his brother, for whom he ran errands. Darko took the opportunity to study carving from his brother, learning from his talents.
Right after school he went straight into traditional woodcarving. Initially, business was slow, hindered both by the lack of financial resources and inability to procure quality materials. With help from his family, especially his brother, Darko's enterprise has since been growing tremendously.
Darko is currently operating a workshop in the town where he grew up and where he has been carving seriously to date. Sese, a common wood harvested in the Eastern Region of Ghana, is his primary material. Masks and profiles comprise the majority of his art. His inspiration comes naturally, although sometimes he carves based on his customers' ideas.

A few days ago I received by Sankofa Bird Mask and I am just too HAPPY. My grandmother from Alabama use to draw strange symbols in the dirt and I never knew what they meant until now. When I went to pick up MY BIRD my heart was beating very fast because I did not know what to expect. When I got back to my office and opened my box I just hugged and kissed MY BIRD. It is oh so gorgeous and my family loves it so. I know that I will be buying many more porducts because this is more than I ever expected in my wildest dreams. The workmanship alone speaks for itself. Eric Darko has done an awesome job in keeping with tradition and his artwork speaks for itself. It is just gorgeous!
Eric Darko creates very beautiful and unique pieces of artwork. I have his carving hanging on my wall for just one day and already I've recieved so many compliments. I am proud to display it in my home.

The title of this carving caught my attention, because I am a poet. His inspiration may have been different. People so often take for granted or underestimate the power of one's mind. The wood has a subtle beauty all its own. I like it!
I Love all of the Masks featured on your website..Each one in its own right is beautiful..I find Eric Darko to be a gifted artisan..His works are elegant and I am proud to be an owner of one of his pieces..

Hello Eric - I have purchased several of your beautiful carvings enjoy all of them. While they are all traditional they would also easily fit in a modern art museum. I treasure them all but my favorite is ""Wisdom of Two,"" which is such a powerful piece. The joy of your art as evidenced in the bright smile in your photograph is definitely apparent in all of these carvings.
