Details

Tenderly cradling the baby Jesus, Saint Rose of Lima is crowned with flowers. Born on August 30, 1586, Isabel Flores de Oliva was the first American to be canonized, in 1671. Each year the devout make a pilgrimage to the chapel in Santa Rosa de Quives where she lived and worshipped. Alberto Torres creates a glowing portrait of the patroness of Peru, America and the Philippines. He presents the work in an elaborate frame of carved cedar wood with bronze leaf.

Titled "Santa Rosa de Lima" in Spanish.

"Child of the Thorn oil painting"

Exquisite detail in this tiny oil paining. Exceeded my expectations framed in a lovely hand carved gilt frame. Cherished piece of religious art now hanging in my home. Hope to see more from this artist.
