Ana Martins

"My name is Ana Martins. I am a fine artist, and I paint abstract compositions in acrylics and oils.

"Today, I live off of my artwork, but it was not always like that. Five years ago, I decided to place my faith in my art, to listen to my calling. Since I made that decision, I have not experienced any more financial difficulties. This was the confirmation that I was following the right path. Before then, I worked as a salesperson. I thought that I would only be able to work on my paintings after I retired. However, God decided to shorten that path for me. He made me look inside myself to understand who I am, why I exist, and what I am here to do.

"Since I was a child, I looked to painting to express my most subtle emotions. I enrolled in the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro as a Fine Arts major with the intention of learning the variety of techniques that I would come to use throughout my career.

"The material that I enjoy most is acrylic paint. Its fast-drying quality appeals to me, since it allows me to develop my compositions more quickly. Today, I continue to work a lot, but it is out of pure pleasure. Without that feeling of anxiousness that I always felt with my previous jobs, I am a different person; I feel happy and peaceful. I live with my husband, a musician, and my three daughters. In our household, everyone either paints or plays a musical instrument.

"I generally exhibit my work in shopping centers and, now, through Novica. While I am working on a piece, I know that it already belongs to someone. What I do is to ask Him in the highest to help me find that person to whom my piece belongs. Who knows? Maybe with Novica it will be easier!"
