Jazz Women African Painting, "Blue Jazz"

Three women jam together, their lively jazz improvisations inspiring Henry Appiah. Complex rhythms and the "call and response" musical dialogue came to characterize gospel, then jazz – considered an American musical genre. Yet the circle closes as jazz returns to its African roots. "I would love to see a jazz club where women play all the lovely tunes on Ladies Night," the Ghanaian artist muses.
