Bamboo flute, "Dragon King"

Hand-carved from the finest bamboo, the suling (flute) is an essential component of a Balinese traditional gamelan orchestra. Nyoman Lentong adorns the flute with the image of a majestic dragon slithering along the florid perforations which he colors with burnt coconut ash. The artist signs the flute as Pan Nasib, Sangeh which is how people refer to him in his village.
