Rita and Giovanni

"We began in this line of work in São Paulo towards the end of the '60s. Giovanni had learned to work with leather when he was younger, and we designed and crafted a range of products to suit any style, such as contemporary or rustic. They all featured hand-painted compositions. Eventually we began to diversify our range of products and we soon realized we had to move to Rio de Janeiro, because customers were very forward thinking there when it comes to design.

"Little by little our project grew and thankfully, we created a name for ourselves and our customers can trust the quality of our work. Amongst our most famous designs are the beanbags shaped like sacks.

"I attribute the secret of our success and our longevity in this art form to the quality of our work, as well as to the artistic touch we give to each of our products. It renders each piece unique. Giovanni is a true master when it comes to executing any type of work and I specialize in making sure production is viable. Our sons work with us, as well as a small team of assistants.

"Novica is an important way to promote one's work - especially nowadays, when it is essential to be in contact with customers. We enjoy designing and creating what we love to do."
