The word catrina is widely used in Mexico to mean "elegant and polished." Lithographer Jose Guadalupe Posadas created the skeletal Catrina, who was later immortalized in the murals of Diego Rivera. In Mexico, the Day of the Dead is about celebrating the life of those who have passed, rather than mourning their deaths. People visit graves with offerings, including bright floral displays.

"This is the cutest Day of the Dead box"
The box has cute decoupage pictures of Catrina and others celebrating the traditional and festive Day of the Dead in Mexico. Lots of skeletons and scull masks, and all very colorful. Very fun and well made and I will probably leave it out on a shelf all year.

"Day of the Dead Party of Characters!"
There are so many fun characters on this Day of the Dead design. Very colorful and detailed. Love the treasure chest shape. Looks great on my dresser.

"this will be a family treasure"
my daughter made a specific point of asking for this for her home...i am lucky to have it now in my home until she is settled and then she will have a beautiful handcrafted piece that is significant to our culture and heritage while whimsical and fun

"Two Cats on Bookmark"
I hesitated to open the package this bookmark came in because it was wrapped up so beautifully. Then I remembered one should do a review so I carefully unwrapped the package. Thank you whoever wrapped the bookmark because the wrapping was just beautifully done. The bookmark is very sturdy and is so nicely done. I am glad I ordered it because I feel I now have a colorful, pretty, and sturdy bookmark to hold my page when I am reading my book.
