    'In the Garden III' (2010)

The evening's blue dew caresses a girl's nubile body, whispering seductively of nature's splendor. Proud breasts, voluptuous hips and soft belly glow with golden ardor in this evocative portrait. Working in luminous oils, Amorn Pinpimai depicts a young nude in a garden of flowers. "I compare the woman with the flowers – they are both very beautiful," the Thai artist confides.

An artisan story card will be included with your purchase.

"My name is Amorn Pinpimai. I was born on November 9, 1968 in Nakorn Ratchasima province, in the northeast. As a child I was always ill. I disliked socializing, I lived privately and did everything by myself. As I matured into adulthood, I changed and learned how to live with others, and now I really love socializing. I am a bit quick-tempered but don't misbehave. I am an eclectic person when it comes to music, movies, etc. I love the arts and I am quite skilled in painting and sculpture. I also love the art of cooking – I once was a chef. Everything interests me; I have a thirst for knowledge. I am a very happy person, for I do everything I love. I teach and create art.

"I initially studied fine art at the Rajamangala Institute of Technology for three years. Then I studied for five years in the School of Fine Arts at Chiang Mai University. I graduated with a bachelor's degree, majoring in sculpture, in 1993. I worked for almost eight years as a designer in a ceramic factory and then took a sculpture job. In 2001, I just dropped everything and again studied fine art in Silapakorn University in Bangkok. There I graduated with a master's degree in painting in 2003. Now I am a teacher in a Bangkok university, and I am an artist.

"When I create a work of art, I get inspired by my beliefs and by life. I bring aspects of the outer and inner worlds to create personal and unusual concepts. One of them is about the silence of sounds. I used to hear lots of sounds, everything calling for attention. Yet these are ephemeral, unlike language, religions, nationalities, ideologies, faiths and things that live forever. All these sounds gradually became silent until the only ones I could hear were those of my heart and breathing. Losing things and those nearest and dearest is silent. My mother's and sister's deaths were silent. My teacher becoming disabled was silent. Working and feelings are silent. My eyes slowly opening to an artistic world with the glow of happiness is silent."

Amorn Pinpimai, who signs his work in the Thai language, has exhibited his work widely throughout Thailand, as well as in Taiwan. He won first prize for a model for the Pattara Real Estate building as well as third prize in the National Exhibition of Art (1993). His work won an award in the Young Artists Sculpture Competition, The Celebrations for The Auspicious Occasion of Her Majesty The Queen Sirikit's Birthday Anniversary (1995). In 1997, he received an award in the Contemporary Art Exhibition (Thai Farmers Bank), as well as the Art Exhibition of Thailand Art Award by Philip Morris Group (1996-1998).
