I was born in Cajamarca on March 4, 1982. From the time I was a child, I loved Cajamarca textiles, as I grew up watching my mother create beautiful embroidery work. I went away to college where I majored in industrial engineering, then returned to launch a project called 'Tramos.' My family and I all began contributing to it. My best ally was my mother. Together with a group of women, she began to create exquisite pieces with this goal: to transmit through our work the customs, art and culture of Peru.
"Cajamarca textiles are created on a backstrap loom. These weavings are embroidered, and they are different from all the others in the Peruvian sierra. They enrich and affirm the diversity of cultures in our country.
"We decided to make our family project sustainable by trying to share it with people in need who had art in their hands. We want to motivate new generations to develop the art of our ancestors.
"The Cajamarca legacy in textile arts, its traditional clothing and iconography inspire us to develop new and innovative creations. For our first collection, we used forms and figures from a tapestry that dates from 1980; it was embroidered with the flora and fauna typical of Cajamarca textiles that always strive to transmit the joy of the countryside.
"When you purchase our work, you help this art to continue, to become stronger. Each piece reveals the heritage of an entire culture, of a time that should not be forgotten."
