"I am the youngest of six siblings and according to Balinese traditions, the eldest son must follow in his parents' business, the second can choose whether or not to join, and the third one is not expected to follow suit. I'm the sixth one… double 3! So I didn't follow in my parents' trade in tourism, I followed my destiny, a very different one. I really just want to be known for my work.

"I studied language, culture and art, and became a teacher in a junior school. All the time I've been involved in crafts – that's how I first came to know about Novica – and after three years I decided to give up teaching and dedicate myself fully to my passion. I've always had an interest in the clothes people wore, trends, what looks good on someone, distinguished nice fabrics… I just love fashion!

"I began by selling apparel but soon realized I wanted to develop my own ideas. I'm lucky because friends and customers like my designs and support me, and likewise I am receptive to their suggestions. I don't like to think of myself as a 'designer' as such, but rather as someone who enjoys working in fashion, because I love it.

"I now work along with 20 people and count amongst my customers people from Australia, Europe and Singapore. I'm dedicated to preserving my culture and introducing people around the world to what we have here in Indonesia, that's why I only use traditional fabrics, like woven ikat and batik on silk and cotton. All my designs are based on these handmade fabrics, which I purchase in Java as well as in Bali.

"People know they can come 'round and try on as many things as they want. I love bringing out everything I have for you to try on, and I love telling you about the patterns. I want customers to feel welcomed to a warm, friendly environment. I guess that's why people keep returning, and that makes me proud!

"I like being associated with Novica because I've long wished for people from around the world to get to know my designs, and experience their reaction to them. I'm certain they'll appreciate them and love them!"

The color of the top is very beautiful and fits wonderfully. It is well designed, in that it's easy to wear. I also love how it ties at the neck. It has a simple, elegant style with a twist....
