    Ayu Komang Agustini

Ayu Komang Agustini was born in East Bali on 17 August 1969. She has always worked with arts and crafts and she used to be the manager of a wood carving gallery. She loved her position there, as it promoted the arts and crafts of her beloved Bali. Unfortunately, the gallery was forced to close after the bomb of 2000, and she found herself to be unemployed, as was her husband. They have two daughters, so they had to find a solution to their situation.

"I was very sad and depressed, but I am a very religious person, and I knew that God would help me, and this is what happened," she says. "My grandfather made ceramic pottery and when I was a child I often visited him at his workshop to help. I liked it very much. When I found myself in a difficult situation, I thought of my grandpa who was such a great person, and decided to restart his family business. And this is how everything started.

"My husband and I decided to go to Lombok, and here we found what we wanted: the inspiration and the right materials to develop our pieces. I wanted to make something different from what you usually see in Bali. I love strong colors, and I like to combine them in order to create a strong effect.

"I am very happy to be part of Novica, I really hope my pieces find acceptance and I would like to thank all future clients on behalf of myself and the people now working with me."
