    'Soul Music II'

One man plucks a jazzy bass rhythm while his companion plays the piano. Together, their duet captures the essence of soul music. Bright colors suggest the good feelings the music creates. "They play with passion," artist Emmanuel Tetteh Pecku observes. "Music is good for every soul."

"My name is Emmanuel Tetteh Pecku. My mother says that during my pre-school education, my teachers always complained about my habit of drawing on any surface I came across anywhere – even when class was in session. I always won prizes in school art competitions, and also played soccer for the school. I have been painting since 1995, as a schoolboy of 12, and began studying for a university degree in art in 1999.

"My favorite medium is acrylic on canvas; using a flat short-bristle brush and a palette knife are most important to my work. The result is a unique style, greatly enhanced by an almost fanatical regard for the purity of colors.

"My first exhibition was in Accra, and I exhibit and sell my works through a gallery there. I have won two major awards in arts. I like basing my works on situations that can raise an alarm to save society."
