Sara Cortez

"Hello, I'm Sara Maria Cortez Pautrat. I was born in Lima on November 9, 1969. I studied design at the Universidad Católica del Perú School of Art, advertising art and graphic design and specialized in corporate image and the teaching of publicity and design. I also took courses in fashion design at the Instituto de Modas Chío Lecca, and audiovisual communications at the Instituto Peruano de Publicidad. Finally, I have an interesting career in fine arts within the areas of creative writing and painting.

"I've been dedicated to my art since 2001 and would describe my work as figurative symbolic. My motivation is the expression of colors and form, transmitting the sensations and characters that live in my mind. My greatest challenge has been to find the time and the resources to dedicate myself to painting.

"It is said that art has no utilitarian meaning. That is partially true. I'd define art as an intention to be gods, recreating reality according to our own whims, making it up. For many years, now, I've been running away from the world's reality and this is the result. Bless you for your patience and understanding. I prefer that you be the ones who judge, examining each work, every part of me.

"I also love to write, and published my first book of poetry in 2001. I had my first painting exhibit in 2005. Among my many creative explorations are cinema, music and multimedia.

"Thanks to the creativity of the pictorial language, and that this is deeply interwoven with my experiences and moods, I transmit a true esthetic delight. And in this way I continue addressing new forms, with poetic qualities in my art, both for the realization of my destiny as a creator and for the pleasure of art lovers.

"Please observe my work with new eyes, because these paintings are born of interior harmony."
