    'Ghostly Inhabitants' (2005)

Victor Farfán emulates the cubist style of Giacomo Balla's 1913 works on the automobile. Warm yellows and cool violets invite the viewer into an intricate study of spaces. "I have drawn the interior of a room and the projection of the solar rays that pass through the window," Farfán says. "They take geometric forms. The addition of black gives a greater contrast."

    Titled "Habitantes espectrales" in Spanish.

An artisan story card will be included with your purchase.

    Victor Farfan

Born in the sacred valley of the Inca on April 20, 1961, Víctor Farfán Nina brings its happy colors to his works. As a child, he enjoyed drawing but, when he finished secondary school, he planned to enter medical school. However a lack of funds forced him to give up his dream and he took a drafting job with a moving company. One day his colleagues noticed how well he could draw and asked him to make a poster for the company. Farfán's German boss was so impressed by his talent that he asked the young man to paint several pictures and helped him study art at a museum course. So good was his work that a professor suggested he apply to the National School of Fine Arts, where he received his artistic formation.

"I describe my work as figurative," Farfán says. A painter since 1988, he seeks his own visual language to transmit what he feels to others. "I feel proud of my hands, he confides. "My greatest challenge was getting admitted to art school at the age of 35 and graduating. I realized that there is no proper age for studying when you really want to."
