    Ceramic statuette, 'Jarana Belltower'

A group of Andean musicians clad in the traditional attire of the mountains gathers beneath a rustic church, while a man tugs on the thick rope of the bell tower, announcing their presence. They are performing jarana songs, a time-honored genre of highland Peru. To create the piece, Juan Soto Palomino shapes each figure by hand from local clay before applying a rich palette of latex paints. Makes a charming statement in any warm setting.

I find inspiration in the Andes ~ in its magnificent ecology and legendary customs. Most of my work tends to reflect pre-Inca life. Now that I am selling my products I feel extremely proud to contribute to my family's progress."
