Crystal Carvers of Sete Lagoas

Situated at the heart of the state of Minas Gerais, Sete Lagoas is a city that dates back to the 17th century, when numerous expeditions traveled throughout the region searching for rich lands to please the Portuguese king. Eventually they discovered the immense treasures abounding underground in the form of precious metals and stones. Today the region is still known for its numerous mineral settlements and by the various techniques developed by the inhabitants to work the precious stones and crystals. Local artisans appreciate the earth's generosity and create beautiful and captivating pieces of myriad shapes and forms.

Sete Lagoas is also well-known for other natural treasures such as Rei do Mato grotto, a 235 meter deep cave featuring cave paintings that date back 6,000 years.
