Details

His heavy lids close, tricking the casual observer into assuming lethargy as he pauses in a moment of deliberate thought. His knowledge radiates from his introspective countenance in the form of sunrays. Daniel Nyadedzor carves an appealing rotund design accentuated by elaborate West African motifs. Infused with the wisdom of the ancestors, this mask brings profound insight to any setting.

Sese, a wood native to West Africa, is patiently hand-carved and sanded to achieve the desired form. The piece is then masterfully adorned with emulsion and aluminum plates. Nyadedzor applies a thin coat of white clay to lend it an antique appearance.
