Indigo seas reveal the intricate beauty of a screw shell in this cotton batik wall hanging from El Salvador. "This design is about sea life and the beauty in it. I am always surprised about the fact that many animals feel protected by shells," says Grace Guirola. Expert in the art of textile dyes, she extracts color from indigo leaves harvested in her family's hacienda, while women from the community paint the shell by hand with shibori techniques and sew the wall hanging.
Includes conacaste wood display rods and an agave rope for hanging.
