Details

Beautifully feminine in bold coral red, this shawl celebrates the textile legacy of Lucknow. Uma Tripathi designs the splendid wrap, which is woven of a rich cotton and silk blend. Golden zari dewdrops glisten around florid chikankari embroidery in a slightly darker shade of red. A specialty of Lucknow, the chikankari style has attracted admirers since the days of the Mughal Empire, when it was first embroidered in white over white. Tripathi completes her design with golden kamdani ("metal work") on the shawl's selvage.
