Carved by hand from sese wood, this handsome African mask is the work of Godfred France. A triangle motif on the forehead features aluminum repoussé; it echoes the elongated shape of the face. This mask is representative of the Gonja people. "It is worn during naming ceremonies to drive away all flying evil," the artisan explains.
