Delivery EstimateHistory tells of Ahilya Bai Holkar, the Philosopher Queen renowned for her wisdom and bravery who commanded armies into battle. She once commissioned weavers to design long sarees without floral motifs, as she did not care for them. Weavers drew inspiration from the detailing on the Maheshwar Fort, and wove intricately patterned fabrics that have come to be known as Maheshwari weaves. India Social preserves this legendary tradition with this bright yellow shawl, woven on a hand loom with a cotton and silk blend featuring discreet shades of green and rose.

"Simple eligance."
The photo does not do this scarf justice. The detail in this hand woven scarf is beyond anything I have ever seen before. A lost art. Youll not find anything comparable in any store. Its a gift and I may have to consider one for myself!

"lovely pattern and colors."
Really liking "Indian wine" cotton shawl. It can be used as a wrap and also looped around the neck loosely as a scarf (I have several tying tricks). Lovely cotton fabric in a deep burgundy with silver grey stripes. The fringe is well done and doesn't dangle too long (which I like a lot). Easy care: I wash it in warm water in the machine in a mesh bag with eco-friendly laundry soap and hang to dry immediately to smooth out any wrinkles. Great buy!

"Simply beautiful"
I was amazed by the craftsmanship of the weaving, how light, fine and sheer the shawl is but perfect for keeping the chill off on summer evenings. I also appreciated the hand-written thank-you card from the weaver, and the beautiful satchel that the shawl came in.
