Expressionist Acrylic Painting, "Guess What?"

Elongated forms stretch upward, revealing themselves as women with their arms raised. With an earthy palette where green and brown predominate, Ghanaian artist Mawunya Charway creates the images on a canvas of jute. Sawdust enhances the textures. "It is for people to guess what meaning they give to the role of the woman in our socio-economic development. Every woman has a role to play in our culture and historical achievements in the fight for change," he says. "Women should be allowed to effectuate change in our society."
