Expressionist Painting, "Goje Woman"

Music fills the air as a woman sings, accompanying her song with the goje. Awaiting her vibrant touch is a xylophone, both traditional West African instruments. John Atta Mensah selects a palette of warm earth colors to depict the musician. "Musical instruments have been the traditional realm of Africa and women, too, join to play," he says.
