It is a substantial, solid walnut, beautiful jewel box. I so appreciate the ancient techniques this artist M. Ayub uses and preserves. The wood carving has a glow I have never seen before, and there is no chemical/lacquer smell at all because he only uses natural polishing methods. Very rare to find pieces like this today. Thank you M. Ayub for sharing your artistry and the hard work from your hands. Blessings to you.

"Valentines Gift for Husband"
This beautifully carved jewelry case I gave to my husband for Valentines Day, with a little something extra on the inside. It is lovely workmanship in wood carving and unique. The symbolic camel in the oasis symbolizes my husband, who is a refreshing delight and one of his nicknames!

Preserving Traditions
Carving walnut wood is a passion for M. Ayub. He loves every aspect of this traditional art that was taught to him as a boy. A single piece can take many years for him to create; the wood must be gathered and carefully preserved before the carving can even begin. Once carved, it must be hand-rubbed with an agate stone to produce a beautiful refined finish. M. Ayub finds that many younger people do not have the patience for this craft and he fears that it is a dying art. He is dedicated to encouraging and motivating others to continue this magnificent Indian traditional craft and he stands ready to teach those willing to learn.
