Rupini was born as the youngest of five children. A creative and talented silversmith, she is a promising Balinese artist whose parents are schoolteachers. From the time she was a child, she lived with her uncle who is a master silversmith and, together with her cousins, Rupini learned to make silver jewelry from very young age.

As a single parent, she takes care of her daughter Kalcika Putri Utami, born in 2002. Rupini divides her time between her daughter, her silverwork and her social life, which includes considerable Balinese ceremony.
