"A main theme of my work is the expression of the female. I am an artist who is very proud to be woman."
"I'm Ana Peixoto. The first time I observed a sculpture being created with the professor Musa Terezinha, I was certain that I would also be able to do so too. I resolved to begin to study art. Since the early 1980s, I attended free courses such as those of Maria Thereza Vieira, or the Lage Park School of Visual Arts and the Universidade Estácio of Sá. Today, after a long journey, I work for one of Brazil's renowned TV stations where I create objects for the sets as well as diverse sculptures.
"A main theme of my work is the expression of feminity. I am an artist who is very proud to be woman. My sculpture is motivated by love and springs from that fact. The feminine legacy of my family was an immense amount of love and tenderness, and I believe that these are the ingredients for transforming the world. I have passed these teachings on to my daughter and my granddaughter, especially through my works of art.
"Throughout my career I have had a number of gallery exhibitions and have participated in collective exhibits and competitions. I have been awarded gold, silver and bronze medals from such institutions as the Brazilian Academy of Fine Arts, the Military Club, FESP and the Naval Club. At present, I teach the sculpting techniques in a couple of renowned art schools."
