Carmen Rosa Soto

"... each piece carries my love and my effort."

Carmen Rosa Soto was born in Ayacucho City, also known as the "Corner of the Dead," for it is here that the final battle for Peru's independence was fought. A ceramist by profession, she learned her craft from her husband. Soto dedicates most of her time to the sculpting of a variety of ceramic pieces which she shapes from red clay – prepared by herself as well as the natural pigments she uses to paint her work.

"I enjoy crafting products, it has become a way of life for me. I've exhibited my work in Peru and in Chile, where my sculptures have earned recognition. I also teach my relatives. My dream is to travel to other countries and show my work in fairs and galleries.

"I would like to thank Novica customers for allowing me to share my work with you, because each piece carries my love and my effort. It is but a sample of what I have learned to make, and will continue to make through the rest of my life."
