Summer Entertaining Essentials

I have always been a fan of dinner parties, especially in warmer weather. There’s nothing better than sitting out on the patio or balcony, and sipping a glass of wine or a fruity cocktail. I’m picturing myself right now, my feet up on the ottoman, laying back in a comfy chair, and soaking up the sun’s rays. Now if only I had a maid who could wait on me! Since it’s spring with summer just a week away, it’s time to plan for summer entertaining. Crack out some bubbly, fire up the grill, and enjoy the season to its fullest with your family and friends.

One of the most important aspects of entertaining is making sure there’s enough seating for your guests. Most of us already have our everyday furniture: sofa, loveseat, end chairs, dining table and chairs set, and for the summer months, patio furniture. For some extra seating on top of the everyday stuff, it’s ideal to have items that fold up, which makes it easier to store them in the off-season.

Maya hammock deck chair and footstool, 'Cancun Coast' - Sit back and relax!  This Deck Chair and Footstool, is available in many other colors!

Tornillo wood and leather chair, 'Inca Gods' - Gorgeous for both inside and outside. It's almost too pretty to leave outside, as I'd be tempted to fold it and store it inside.

Now that we’ve discussed seating, it’s time to discuss the serving of the goods. Yes, when you have a crowd of family and friends gathering around, it’s helpful to have a bar or somewhere to place stuff. A nice item to add to any décor is a bar cart. How I would love to own one, and plan on buying one in the near future. It’s nice having the option of having appetizers on a cart, or a wide selection of drinks at your fingertips. Instead of trying to juggle stuff from one room to the next, just cart it around the home.

Leather and cedar bar cart, 'A Movable Drink' - beautiful addition to any home!

Now that we have a cart, we have to jump to the most important part of entertaining: glassware! Yes, every host has to have a good collection of glassware and dinnerware for their guests. You can never have too many wine glasses, champagne flutes, and regular drinking glasses, especially if you’re like me and always seem to break one once the wine pours!

Goblets, 'Green Spiral' (set of 6) - simple, yet pretty wine glasses.

Blown glass rock glasses, 'Aurora Tapatia' (set of 6) - Super pretty summer glassware ice pitcher

Cotton hammock, ‘Forro Dance’ (double)

Now that you’ve wined and dined your guests, be sure to take some time for yourself after all the hard work. Pour yourself a drink, sit back and relax, and eventually swing yourself to sleep in a beautiful hammock!
