"I am a designer who lives and works in her home-based studio and gallery in Ghana. Born in Kenya, I graduated with an honors degree in design. I then moved to Ghana where I received, in 1993, a master's degree in African art. I have also done further studies in Graphic Media Development and Product Design for export in Hague and Rotterdam in the Netherlands respectively. In 1997, I resigned as a university lecturer in Art History and Design to pursue a life-long hobby in accessory design.
"Today, as a leading designer in ethnic jewelry, I bring to life and reveal the deep meaning and symbolism of African beads and design, in modern haute couture. My collections have been shown in exhibitions in Kenya, Ghana, the Netherlands, Italy and Japan. I am also widely collected at home and abroad. I spend my time designing, running the gallery and collecting beads and handicrafts from different African countries. I also have a line of hand-painted bags and mirrors as well as beaded bags.
"I am married to the talented young Ghanaian painter, Martin Dartey; we have a son, Kwaku."
