"I became interested in jewelry making when I drove a taxi in Bangkok. Driving tourists to nearby markets and stores, I learned about the different materials, the manufacturing process, and the trade in general. I started making small pieces with inexpensive materials. It was all for fun back then. It was a hobby.
"I was born quite some time ago in a quiet province in Isarn. As a child I helped in the rice fields and looked after the big water buffalos. When I became a young man, I decided to move to the big city where working opportunities were certainly more plentiful and life was livelier. I initially moved to Udon Thani. It was closer and seemed friendlier than Bangkok, where I did not have any relatives.
"Life was good. I drove a taxi every day. I met my wife, and we moved to Bangkok many years later. I continued driving a taxi and my wife sold in the neighborhood the best foods she cooked at home. We were later blessed with four daughters. Providing them with a good education has been a daily struggle for us, but we are rewarded by seeing them become good persons, graduated, and now standing on their own two feet. The youngest is still studying.
"What once was a hobby has now become a serious endeavor. While I still drive a taxi, at night when I come home I relax by making jewelry when the temperature is cooler. Now I work with various materials, including metals, steel, silver, and of course leather.
"One of my daughters specializes in marcasite jewelry and she introduced me to Novica. I think they liked my work because they encouraged me to share it with the world through their website. I am not at all familiar with all the new technology and with Internet. But perhaps the world will like what I do and, who knows, maybe that will allow me to stop driving a taxi. My eyes are not what they used to be, and the traffic in Bangkok is very challenging. Focusing on making jewelry is what I aspire to do. I wish you all well."
