"My name is Thanawaporn Meechai or you can call me May, like my family and friends do. I was born on March 14, 1977 and I am the youngest sister of three brothers. We grew up in a warm family environment, and most of us siblings have inherited a passion for silk weaves from our father.
"I feel bound to silk, regardless of the fact that it is a family legacy. I have studied all I can about it, and I have acquired vast experience from my travels throughout Asia and Europe. It has been one of my greatest challenges, and I feel there is still more to learn about silk weaving traditions.
"I am very careful about every detail and every stage involved in the production of each piece, from planting and looking after the mulberry plants, harvesting, making yarn, dying, weaving, and then I verify the final piece is of good quality. Customers deserve a high-quality piece, because if it wasn't for them, I would not be able to continue this craft.
"I also enjoy designing, and I try to incorporate aspects of my two favorite cultures, Thai and Japanese.
"Today the world is suffering from global warming, so I hope everyone is committed to saving our planet by decreasing their use of energy. I feel I contribute to saving the world by working with natural and environmentally-friendly materials such as silk."
