Like other Balinese women, Kadek Widiani is always busy with ceremonies and taking care of the family. "Many people may think it's hard to live as a Balinese woman, but I found my life is very interesting. Everyday I wake up early in the morning, prepare breakfast for the family, and most of the time continue with preparing offerings for the day. When there is a ceremony in the village, together with women from the same
banjar, we prepare offerings from morning until night. The activity lasts a week or two, depending on how big the ceremony is. A banjar is like a small community within a village and consists of 100 families or more.
"Besides ceremony and family, there is one more activity that I do almost everyday – making silver jewelry. My favorite themes are animals and flowers, both in traditional or modern style. Together with my husband, I have a workshop where several others help us craft our designs."
