Adolfo Quispe

"I'm Adolfo Quispe Aguilar and I was born in Ayacucho on July 2, 1966. From the time I was a little boy, I'd watch my family create marvelous textiles and I dreamed of one day being able to create pieces of color and imagination with my own hands.

"My artistic formation comes from my ancestors. We all carry this art in our blood. For me, this work is more than just a job – it's the excitement and passion of my life. From the age of 14, I've designed and woven my own pieces. My motivation comes from the tradition and culture in every skein of yarn.

"I enjoy transmitting the things that I like. I bring my life, my examples, my people, my ancestors, all my beliefs and experiences to my work. My sighs, my time…. I create what I feel and what occurs to me at the moment.

"I brings messages to my work, such as history and the culture of the artistic world so that people can know them. My greatest challenge is that people admire this art that I sometimes hide.

"I feel proud to have learned, and even more when I teach someone else to weave and design the things I know. Each day my own ideas and techniques are refined. I never stop seeking, doing and achieving, innovating, looking for new and authentic things so you'll feel happy when you have a weaving of mine in your home. They are filled with love and dedication to bring warmth to any setting."
