"I was born on June 15, 1972 in Bogor, West Java. I became acquainted with Bali soon in my life, since I studied interior design at the University of Bali. After working as a designer in Jakarta for several companies, I decided to start my own business with a friend since we had a strong motivation to do something by ourselves.
"We wanted to create something new but with traditional techniques and materials, and we started creating wooden photo frames with the batik technique. The good response they got made us very confident in ourselves and we started to develop a whole line. But Jakarta was not the best place to market our products, since its people are more traditional than in Bali.
"We like to call our designs 'ethnically modern,' since they are done for modern houses – but with an ethnic touch – since we want to show local materials, techniques and quality.
"We divide our time between Bali and Java, where we collaborate with 30 skilled artisans. Together we create beautiful designs that unite time and place in unique objects."
