I have purchased 2 of Maricarmen's creations - the "Ember" ring and earrings...and am about to checkout with two more in my cart! I wore them once - to work - and every woman was oohing and aahing over the Ember pieces (which go so well with my now reddish hair). I was a bit worried I wouldn't be able to leave with them, there were so many envious eyes on the artwork adorning my ears and hand...(and doesn't that just tickle us somehow?) Ember is truly the perfect name, the lingering light and warmth from a fire's embers is brought forth by the carnelian, wrapped by the cool silver of what is to come when the embers dies out. This contrast of the warm and cool, and the smooth and textured silver, reminded me of how full of contrast - and conflict - we humans are. I wasn't thinking of the conflicts with each other, but those within ourselves. This is nature - conflict, contrast abounds all around us, so why do we struggle with this very essence in ourselves? We're not one, uniform thing - we are a mixture of many, many essences. If we we stopped trying so hard to suppress the conflicts within ourselves, perhaps there would be fewer conflicts with each other... Those were a few of my musings as I opened the pouches when my order arrived...simplistic and idealistic at first and ending up with an assessment of my core values as a human. Isn't this the fundamental purpose of art - to express something to a fellow human, have them interpret it from their own experiences, and to think, ponder, question? Maricarmen's pieces are magnificent objects of self adornment, created with inspiration, skill and talent. They are also art. Thank you for "Ember"...time to acquire a few more art pieces! Connie

Dear Maricarmen: Thank you for the opal and silver ring "Ocean" -- an artistic creation that is both aptly-named and beautiful! The blue-green shades of the opal do indeed remind me of the ocean's myriad of colors while the finely-wrought silver surrounding the gemstone appears almost wave-like in its abstract form. As a Libra, I am particularly pleased to own my birthstone in a ring of such unusual hues and in such a symbolic design. (I also like the concept of the ring's conveying "ethereal femininity" ... still another poetic attribute!)
