"My name is Jacob Nongor and in a suburb of Accra on the 1 January 1974. I was only able to go to school for a few years due to my family's financial situation. I come from a four-member family which includes my mother, Dede, and my father, Brotey. Later, I joined the Samson Oppong art center, where I learned to design and to make jewelry.
"My main source of inspiration is seeing African women wearing traditional beaded necklaces. I make my own designs and I prefer to use traditional materials such as clay and glass beads.
"I work on my own, but when there's too much to do I call on a former student to help me. When I can, I offer other designer hopefuls to come and train with me. I spend a lot of my time at my workshop, and I don't exhibit my work outside.
"My goal for the future is to have my work be appreciated by many people, and to one day open a big shop of my own."
