"My name is Nakarin Yano and I was born May 16, 1973 to a middle class family. We lived in a little village in the north. My parents stressed the importance of education and worked hard so we could study to a high level. They charitably helped other villagers, and everyone respected and was very fond of them. They set an example of sacrifice for us. They taught us to love and respect the family, people, and to live in harmony. This of course has influenced what I value in life. To respect and honor people, to be faithful, to trust others and myself, to be a leader and to do the best work possible are what I value most.
"I graduated with an architecture diploma and later became a teacher in a private school where I worked for six years. In 1996, I became a designer and started to create decorative products. Finally I decided to work for myself and began designing and making clothes. One day I heard about OTOP ["One
Tambon (district) One Product"]. This is a government project that aims to financially help and promote local enterprises, particularly those producing handmade products. My family and villagers in my community joined this project and we started making our own brand of products through OTOP.
"Nowadays I balance time for work, family, others and for myself. I am close to my family, spend time with them, and lovingly look after them. I am happy and enjoy my work. I also try and make other members of our community gain from my work. As for myself, I am searching for good things to happen in my life. I follow the right ways and always strive for self-improvement. When I have had a problem or reached a crossroad, others have always given me help, suggestions, advice, sympathy and compassion. This I am very impressed with, and will always return to others tenfold.
"My greatest challenges are to design and craft products that will be accepted by the public. I am satisfied by and proud of each piece I create. I put lots of imagination and love into them. My clients and my products' utility are always the basis for my thinking and creative process. Then color and pattern follow. For clothing, I aim for a casual style, mostly with earth tones. For decorative products, I aim for either a traditional or contemporary concept, taking the current trends into consideration, and only then I do select the colors.
"In the future I'd like to export our products. I'd like my community to grow stronger, I'd like them to enjoy and work together. More importantly, I'd like them to earn a better living. I believe Novica will help us achieve these goals. Our products are consistent with the serenity and beauty of nature, consistent with the Orient. Under the hazy and rainy sky, it is time to dress up and to brighten up your place with our creations."
