John Chauca Laurente was born in Lima on October 30, 1973. His artistic training comes from the prestigious Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes. He has painted since 1991.
"I'd describe my work as neo-figurative," Chauca says. "I feel a strong need to create something beautiful from the instant I pick up a piece of charcoal and sketch a design until I coat the finished work with varnish. This entire process takes me into the very heart of the canvas. I strive to transmit emotions. My work is intended to evoke joy and nostalgia."
Chauca's younger brother, Josue Chauca Laurente, another Novica featured artist, has followed in John's footsteps. "I'd leave my drawings on the table to encourage my talented little brother. We are a family whose hearts are filled with oils and canvas," the elder Chauca brother continues.
"When people invest in art, they are really acquiring something spiritual that can fill their lives with joy, Chauca says, adding, “May God bless all of our Novica friends.”
