"We're Amalia and Carlos. I'm from Taxco – famous for its silver mines – and Carlos is from Cuernavaca with its artistic traditions. We began working together after I had worked with my brother for several years. Carlos and I began with very small workshop and at first it was very difficult. But little by little, with lots of hard work, our efforts began to prosper.
"We create our designs by melting grains of silver with copper and nickel so as to make it malleable. That's why our silver is rated 0.925 [sterling]. We shape it into plates or wires to create flat forms or chains; we also craft other forms with the lost wax process. Finally, we add the fine details by hand and polish the finished piece. I bring Taxco's generations of silver tradition to our work.
"Our designs are the result of teamwork. We want to show the entire world the versatility of Mexican silver."
