"Hi, My name is Rodolfo Carrillo and I'm originally from the state of Morelos, but life brought me to Jalisco in western Mexico. My beginnings in art came from my father-in-law, who has been crafting ceramics here for some time, and it was he who brought me closer to the craft as well as to this beautiful place.
"We work in glass, fired at high temperatures. I paint it with my own exclusive designs using imported glazes. When fired in a mold at 850°C (1,562°F), the glass acquires the consistency of gelatin; it fuses and takes on the shape of the mold.
"A smiling face is a standard part of my signature. I have always tried to avoid the influence of others in my art, looking only to the child within me to create my designs. I learned this from my father, who was a newspaper cartoonist."
