"I was born in the city of temples, Varanasi, in Northern India - October 1968. I grew up amidst a rich family tradition of weaving saris, cushion covers, wall hangings, shawls, and scarves. I took the craft from my very boyhood days. We make completely pure silken shawls, scarves, cushion covers, and wall hangings using varying proportions of pure silk of cotton base. The work is done on traditional handlooms that demands not only ample time but complete dedication, to bring out the very best in designs and colors on every piece that we make. We do extensive brocade/cotton zari work that provides luster to our products.
"Truly speaking there is a great deal of competition in our field. However I have been able to expand the borders of our field of work, though classical and natural themes still remain the principal thrust of our designing. However our industry is plagued with several problems. Our greatest challenge in this field is getting enough money to buy raw materials in sizeable quantity. For then alone we can churn out finished products that are superior quantitatively as well as qualitatively.
"I received a certificate of appreciation from the Uttar Pradesh government in February 1998 during an exhibition in Agra. I have taught this art to several apprentices working with us. Though it is premature to comment, I would like this legacy to continue in our family as it has 'till now. I am delighted to have come into contact with Novica India. I am fostering sanguine expectations."
