Wisanu Kokettikul

The artistry of Wisanu Kokettikul has been featured in Natural Health magazine.

"I was born in a peaceful city in northern Thailand. When I was young I studied the usual things, and I started thinking about my future, what I wanted to do and the career I would love. I graduated from the Technology Institute and began to work for a company for about eight years but found it boring. By this time I had married Pattree, my wife, who is a university professor in fine arts. She is the one who gave me a good advice for my future. Her idea was to make decorative candles. It began as our hobby, we would give decorative candles to our friends on special occasions or when we wanted their opinions on our candles. We tried selling a few, but we weren't successful – we didn't have much experience or training, we just loved making these candles.

"We gradually gained more experience and in 1995 I decided to leave my job and turn this hobby into a career. Yes, it was my dream and I wanted to make it a reality. I studied books and other models and I started making my own candles. I exhibited some in Bangkok and I received many orders, which encouraged me to carry on. In 1997, my wife left her job to help me manage our new candle shop.

"Our work emphasizes art together with quality. We are always proud when people come here and compare our candles and believe they are more beautiful than others. The difference is we try to design freely and not follow the main market, so our candles are exclusive and of the highest quality. And we are proud to have the opportunity to present our real handmade items to the world."
